Box office

The production team realized they needed to clarify the identity of the Voice and the point of Elsa's transformation, and add more comedy and shots of Bruni . A scene of expository dialogue in which the lead characters explained to the people trapped in the Enchanted Forest why they had come there was replaced with Olaf's humorous recap of Frozen. Due to the changes, the animators needed to create 61 new shots and redo another 35. An undisclosed number of shots were cut from the finished film; about a dozen animators and artists worked for two months on an elaborate resurrection scene for Olaf before it was cut. A hydroelectric power station was built on the Altaelva river in Norway from 1979 to 1981; the controversial Virdnejávr Dam flooded a Sámi village, disrupting traditional hunting and herding.

Deleted Song – “Unmeltable Me” — An animatic version of Olaf’s celebratory song about his newfound freedom. Multi-Language Reel“Into the Unknown” in 29 Languages — Hear Elsa’s soaring call to adventure in 29 different languages. Hard Nokks — Kristoff reveals his true feelings about life in Arendelle when the Nokk won’t take no for an answer. Instead of covering Olaf with a mini snowstorm at all times, per his ending in the first Frozen film, Elsa gives him a perma-frost covering in Frozen II, which probably made the film's animators breathe a sigh of relief. This scene demonstrates another one of Elsa's powers; when she dreams, she projects her mental images into the real world via ice and snow. Anna sees Elsa's visions of their parents' past, and although they are pleasant dreams at first, they quickly devolve into nightmares.

This is a beautiful movie, and Elsa's journey is a powerful one to watch. But outside of this it's narrative is completely unfocused and none of the character moments are given the time they deserve on screen. It seems that it's trying to be more adult with more lore and a darker tone, but also still gives Olaf an unnecessary about of screen time doing things that the little kids would laugh at. The pacing also feels quite rushed, even by kids movie standards. You could have cut 20 minutes out of this movie and it would have been just as good. Anna then becomes Queen of Arendelle; Elsa becomes the protector of the Enchanted Forest, who visits Arendelle since peace has been restored. The Blu-ray and digital versions of “Frozen 2″ include interviews with Lopez and Anderson-Lopez, as well as deleted songs from the film. After learning about the making of “Lost in the Woods,” we were given the rare opportunity to step into a recording booth ourselves and take a crack at singing along to a snippet of the song. I can tell you firsthand that it’s pretty jarring to hear your own singing voice in your ears through a big set of headphones, but it was also fun and exciting to give it a try, especially as a fan of both Disney and musicals.
